Join us for our annual Santa Saturdays as the man himself makes a special visit to the museum stables!  Timed tickets are on sale now with any remaining to be sold on the day first come first served.  £2.50 per child including a gift

 

 

A Very Victorian Christmas

How did Victorian manners, morals and menus influence our modern Christmas? And what were Christmases like in days of yore? This special Christmas evening talk includes our normal refreshments plus mince pies. All welcome. £3 including refreshments. Free to Friends of Erewash Museum members. We host monthly talks from local historians to find out more about our local area, it's people and their stories.

Winter Solstice

Celebrate the shortest day of the year and look forward to the spring!  There will be lantern making at the museum 12pm to 5pm and Victoria Park 3pm to 5pm.

 

The parade will leave the museum ay 5:15pm through Ilkeston to Victoria park.  Enjoy lanterns, poetry, story telling and Morris dancing.  You can also wait at the bandstand to take part in the procession.

Model Railway Weekend

Enjoy a nostalgic journey to the 1930s with davey Jones layout of Ilkeston Town.  Ilkeston Woodside Model Railway Club are bringing a drive it yourself Thomas the Tank engine layout, the Old Station at Heanor, and a model of part of Bennerley Viaduct.  We also welcome the Toton Sidings Remembered project with their hands-on hump shunting layouts.

Erewash Canal and Lock Cottages Evening Talk

with Glyn Stenson and Geri Martin. A short historic journey of the Erewash Canal, its people, history and curiosities. The Erewash Canal Preservation and Development Association will tell the story of the threat of closure, the saving and the restoration of this wonderful local landmark. All welcome. £3 including refreshments. Free to Friends of Erewash Museum members. Erewash Museum hosts monthly talks from local historians to find out more about our local area, it's people and their stories.

Welcoming the Year of the Rat!

Rat themed lantern making workshops £1.60 per person at the museum 1:15pm to 5:15pm

 

Procession and main event 5:30pm to 6:30pm.  Scamper with us from Erewash Museum, up to the Ilkeston Market Place in our rat themed procession led by Severn Star Lion Dance.  Waiting for us will be music, storytelling and more dancing.
